Advanced Table Massage

 

Most table courses only cover the use of basic Swedish massage techniques with little knowledge of body topography. However, in this workshop you will learn more than just techniques. Our table workshop focuses on building confidence through palpation skills and knowledge of general muscles of the body. This knowledge is then integrated with basic and advanced Swedish massage techniques. This two day workshop offers students a refresher on the principles of massage and basic Swedish massage. Building on that foundation, advanced massage techniques are introduced that affect the deeper muscles and the focus on the second day is on Trigger Point Massage. Using these techniques you will be able to give a deep tissue or sport massage. By the end of this workshop you will be more confident in your approach to the body, which will translate to a better and safer massage.

 

Trigger Point Massage

Trigger Point Therapy is used as a pain-relief technique to alleviate muscle spasms and cramping. The therapist locates and de-activates "trigger points" which are often tender areas where muscles have been damaged or acquired a re-occurring spasm that worsens painfully when aggravated. The main aims are to reduce spasm and inducing new blood flow into the affected area. Spasms physically reduce blood flow to the trigger point area (ischaemia), which reduces oxygen supplies to the tissues and thus increases the spasm. Trigger points and referral areas will be identified. Pressure is applied to the trigger points for a short time that can be momentarily painful but is greatly relieving. Enjoy this workshop in an eye-opening and awareness day whereby you will experience the release on your tense spots as well as perform Trigger Point Massage.

Pre-requisites: Knowledge of Swedish Body Massage compulsory.
